National Treasure Hall of Kofuku-ji Temple

The five-storied pagoda of Kofuku-ji Temple, a symbol of Nara Park, will not be visible until 2031 due to restoration work.
However, Kofuku-ji Temple houses many valuable Buddhist statues.
In particular, in the National Treasure Hall, you can see the sculptures of the Eight Kinds of Mythological Beings (including the famous Ashura).
These are made of layers of lacquer-impregnated cloth over a hollow core.
Because they were very light, they could be taken out quickly in case of a fire.
Many of the Buddhist statues in Nara are older than those in Kyoto.

If you have come all the way to Nara, why not see these Buddhist statues, which were created 1,300 years ago?
