Why cut the trees?
What is the purpose of people visiting Nara Park?
Probably everyone would answer "deer."
Few would answer "the scenery."
But now, many trees are being cut down in Nara Park.
The reason for cutting them down is for "scenery."
Trees provide many benefits to deer.
Green leaves in spring, shade in summer, acorns and fallen leaves in autumn, and windbreaks in winter.
The tape wrapped around the tree is a marker to cut down.
It's true that the scenery with plum or cherry blossoms in bloom is very beautiful. But they can only be seen for a short period in a year.
We think it's wrong to cut down trees that are important to deer just to make it easier to see the plum and cherry blossoms for a few days.
