Uneme-matsuri

On October 6th, the Uneme-matsuri Festival will be held.
The festival has been held every year on the night of the harvest moon to appease the spirit of
an uneme (female attendants who served the emperor) who threw herself into the pond during the Nara period, and to pray for the happiness of the people.
From 7pm, two boats with dragon heads slowly circle the surface of Sarusawa Pond accompanied by beautiful music.
The sight of people dressed in clothing from the Tenpyō era, illuminated by the moonlight, is very magical.
