The Gathering of the Deer

The Gathering of the Deer is held on the south of the approach to Kasuga-Taisha Shrine at a place called Tobihino.

In the fresh morning air, the attendants blow a horn, and many deer gather when they hear the sound.
You can enjoy the sight of deer gathering around you. The deer are given acorns as a reward.

Gathering of the Deer sessions are free to the public. Private sessions are also available, but reservations must be made at least one month in advance.

Free gatherings are held in the summer (every Saturday and Sunday in August) and winter (every Saturday and Sunday and holiday in January and February).
