Five-storied Pagoda of Kohfukuji Temple is under restoration work!

Kohfukuji’s Five-storied Pagoda was originally erected in 730.
Over its long history, the pagoda burned down a total of five times, with the current reconstruction dating to 1426.
And now, for the first time in 120 years, it is undergoing a major restoration.
The pagoda is covered by enclosure and cannot be seen.
It will be seven years before the restoration work is finished and we can see it again (around 2031).
