Why you should not touch the fawn
Each year, nearly half of fawns die before the age of one year.
The main causes of death among fawns are:
Illness
Traffic accidents
Being touched by people
Mother deer identify their child by smell. If a fawn is touched by people and smells of humans, the mother may neglect or even stop nursing it.
Baby deer that cannot eat grass and deer sembei by themselves will die if their mother rejects them.
When you see a fawn, you may feel like touching it. Some tourists even chase after the fawns. But please know that the fawn may die because of your touch.
