Deer Protection Month in Nara Park

Every November is “Deer Protection Month in Nara Park”.
The deer in Nara Park are designated as a Natural Monument.
Please understand how to treat them properly.

[Things to keep in mind when interacting with deer in Nara Park]

1.  The deer in Nara Park are wild. They can suddenly attack people.
2.  Do not feed anything other than Deer Senbei. The deer may get sick.
3.  Deer Senbei should be given immediately, without lingering. Also, avoid giving them near the road. It may cause a traffic accident.
4.  Do not drop any trash. Please be careful not to lose any brochures or other paper or plastic bag in your hand to the deer.
5.  Do not hit the deer or grab its antlers.

We hope you enjoy your trip to Nara.
